How to Apply


Admission to the PhD programme is governed by a competition that allocates scholarships on the basis of comparative merit and an interview on Skype. Comparative assessment is made by the Boards of Examiners. After the selection process has been completed, the Board of Examiners draws up a merit list. Scholarships are allocated according to the ranking established in the merit list.

Applicants may be of any age or citizenship, but must have a 2nd cycle degree or an equivalent qualification from other countries of at least four years' duration.

Competitions are regulated through two distinct calls.

WARNING: The deadline of the Call for admission to PhD Courses Academic Year 2019/2020 has been extended. The updated deadline for this call is 1 pm (CEST) of May 21st 2019. For Courses which request reference letters, the updated deadline for referees to submit the reference letter using the online procedure is 1 pm (CEST) of May 24th 2019.

Admission to Doctoral Courses is governed by a competition. 18 PhD studentships are available. The competition is open to applicants of any age or citizenship, holding a 2nd cycle degree or an equivalent qualification from other countries of at least four years' duration.

Qualifications include:

Having already been awarded the degree is not necessary for application, but it is necessary to obtain the degree within 30th September. The cv, the Abstract of dissertation and the Research Project have to be compiled according to the template and uploaded along with the other Qualifications listed above.

The award will be for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rate: annual grant of 15,343 €.

Foreign candidates who have been awarded a minimum three-year scholarship by international scientific committee (e.g., Marie Curie or Erasmus Mundus scholarship) can apply and be admitted extra quota (see art. 17 of public call XXXV ciclo).
